Q: Why do you not allow me to download music I purchased in another country?

Download past purchases from iTunes

Learn how to find and redownload your past purchases from the iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, and Mac App Store.

Before you redownload

  1. Sign in with the Apple ID that you used for the original purchase. Use these steps to see which Apple ID you used to download an item.
  2. Check to see if the purchases you're looking for are hidden. If your purchases are hidden, you might not see them even after you follow the steps below. Learn how to unhide purchases.
  3. See if the content is available for redownload. Previously purchased items might not be available if they're no longer on the iTunes Store. Also, make sure that you’re in a country where you can redownload items. If you changed your Apple ID from one country to another, you can’t download items you purchased in a previous country.

Your account can be associated with only one country at a time. Your country of residence. Content is not universally available. Availability to re-download content is limited to the store (country) from which it was originally purchased.

The iTunes stores are assigned to regions, presumably for licensing, operational and tax reasons.  You cannot go into an international chain store in one country and see the identical selection as what is in the same chain store in another country.  You can, however, buy an item in the store in one country and take it with you to the other country. So you can with your media, but you cannot expect to be able to re-download it from the other country's store, nor can you use the first country's iTunes Store from the second country.
