Lost iPod, not connected to WiFi

I have an 16GB Space Gray iPod Touch (5th Generation) that I've lost while on a bike ride. When I went to back to my path multiple times, it wasn't there. It isn't connected to the internet, so I can't use Find My iPhone. Is there possibly ANY other way I can locate the iPod? & If someone were to "jailbreak" the iPod & connect it to the internet, can I still locate it? Thanks.😢
