Q: Track pad issues on early-2011 MacBook Pro
Hi all,
I’ve recently had issues with my track pad on my early-2011 MacBook Pro that runs on El Capitan. All of a sudden it was extremely difficult to slide from one end of the screen to other side using the track pad. For example, trying to click between windows on a tab would take a minute to get there instead of half a second. I figured it was a glitch, so I restarted the MacBook Pro with no luck. I shut my laptop down, and wiped the track pad with a tissue in case their was something on it. I also took off the back cover, removed the battery and cleaned any dust and looked to see if a drop of water or something might’ve got in it. When I turned it back on, the upper part of the track pad worked but the bottom - the spot I typically use - was still erratic. I’m going to take it to the Mac store to get tested tomorrow, but I figure I’d ask here to see if anyone had suggestions I could do.
Is it possible I’ll need a new track pad? It’s the original and it gets a heavy amount of use since it’s both my personal and work computer. Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
Greg
