Oct 25, 2015 12:42 PM in response to psssssby léonie,Even if the new Photos Library and the old Aperture library are showing the same size in the Finder, they are not using twice the storage. All original images and previews in both libraries are hard linked. They are separate files of the same size, but are sharing the same entry in the file table and using the same blocks on the disk.
See these links: Photos saves disk space by sharing images with your iPhoto or Aperture libraries - Apple Support
and also: Six Colors: The (hard) link between Photos and iPhoto
You need only to keep the new Photos Library, but because of the hard links deleting the original Aperture library will not free any storage, until you delete the corresponding photos in Photos as well.
If you opened the same Aperture Library twice in Photos the hard links will be sharing the same image files as the first Photos Library, so no new storage will be used for the second Photos library.
You can delete any of the three libraries, depending on if you want to continue to use Aperture or Photos. The storage will only be released, if you delete theist linked file. The system uses a reference counter.
