iPhone 6S Plus lagging/stuttering badly opening apps/unlocking

Hey guys, (there was no 6S Plus option to select)

I'm on iOS 9.1, just updated but I feel like I was experiencing this issue before the update. I don't know if it makes a difference but mine appears to be the Samsung chip, I checked on that.

Ok now to the actual problem, this phone is stuttering / lagging badly upon unlock. For example, you unlock the phone and the touch screen is just stuck/hanging for about 3-5 full seconds at the home screen, then you can swipe normally after that lag goes away.

Or, you unlock your phone normally as you would just fine and you swipe left to go the 2nd screen and it gets stuck/unresponse in between home screen and the 2nd page for 3-5 full seconds.

A phone with this insane new hardware should not be having this problem brand new, right out the gate. What gives? I'm seein' other people with this same exact problem.

Any news??

I replaced my iPhone 6S+ today for a GPS issue and as I was driving away from the mall it started. I've reset and restored the phone fully and it still does this. My original phone which I had from initial release until today the 31st never did this lag issues, not even once. This is really horrible. I'm going back tomorrow and going to see if they'll swap it out again. I can't make an apt because they dont have open spots, but I'm going in anyway. I live 2 hours away from Apple Store and I happen to be staying in Orlando for the weekend. I can't live with this.

So I talked to apple today and said they are releasing a software update late November that fixes this problem.. Getting replacements doesn't fix issue..

Sorry Form my english- I'm not a native speaker

I Have the same issue (2sec delay/stuttering after unkocking with Touch I.D.

I talked to apple care and the guy asked me how old my SIM is. My SIM is the

original SIM from my 5s, two years old. He said, that SIM Cards lose during the time

somehow electrical conduktivity- and each model has his own voltage. The stuttering/freezing can be a sign of a old/wrong SIM card. so I try out a new SIM.

So, now it's a little better (shorter freezing), but still exists. Maybe we all have a SIM Card issue and Need a specific SIM Card with special voltage?

anyone here already tried a diffrent SIM? Is this worth for a new thread?

restoring the device or rebooting doesn't solve the problem . It's all about a buggy ios9. I have the 6s plus 64gb with Samsung chip and the stuttering/lag appears almost everywhere in the os. When the 9.1 came out I was hoping that it is going to solve all the stuttering problems but forget it - its the same or even worst. Try opening ~20 apps and then access the multitasking... I have notices tho that reducing the transparency solves the problem but then the iOS looks like sh..

If you mean the momentary freeze right after unlocking, they won't be able to do anything as it needs a software fix. The genius at my local apple store showed me his 128gb 6s plus and it had the exact same thing, so exchanging won't make a difference. I received my replacement phone (for a different issue), & it has the exact same thing. Just need to wait for an update I guess.

I updated to 9.2 and it seems multitasking is a lot smoother, and 3D touch is as well. It's still some randomly lags when I first boot up the phone though, which is weird. Also, I've noticed a bug that appeared in 9.2 beta 4, and wasn't fixed with the final release.....In the multitasking when you scroll through the cards, it goes super fast unless I move my finger really shortly....seems like a coding issue? Hope it's fixed. Anyway things are running so much better on 9.2 than 9.1.

Hey Guys. as you have noticed that in iPhone 6s, when unlocking using Touch ID, the unlock animation lags/choppy animation sometimes(even in 9.2 it is not resolved). Well I have found a workaround how to prevent this. you just need to put a black wallpaper for lock screen(for ex the black with purple flower) and use any other different wallpaper on the homescreen. when you unlock the choppy animation lag is gone. Since doing that no choppy animation for me when unlocking. Hope this helps...

Ok so everyone with this issue must update to 9.3 beta which is available for public.

1. Why did I have to find this out on my own! (APPLE YOU COULD HAVE TOLD ME)

2. It installs with reduce motion turned off!

3. It has vastly improved the user interface, stuttering and lag is now minimal but still slightly noticeable.

4. PLEASE people install the beta and give your feedback so that Apple correct this completely by release.

5. Wait for full 9.3 update.

6. NEVER UPDATE YOUR PHONE AGAIN

7. Sell your 6s+ when you see features in the new updates that you can't have because you know Apple will sodomise you and force you to get the 7.

8. Exit the Apple ecosystem

hi all,

after months of trying EVERYTHING - reduce motion, reduce transparency AND EVEN restoring as a new phone and then restoring from backup (who can live without their data!?) - all this i did SEVERAL times - nothing worked. I even began suspecting corrupted data in my backup - and had no idea how to clear that. Today by purely by accident i discovered what was causing the problem for me. Hope it works for you guys as well. It is the passcode setting. Whenever i switch off the passcode, then "lock" the phone and unlock the phone (it doesnt ask for a passcode - just swiping will open - bcos passcode is switched off) there is no freezing of the home screen. but when i switched on passcode setting - then the home screen stutter starts again.

while i think the root of the problem has been identified (i think) - the choice is now whether to live with home screen stutter or leave the phone unsecured without the passcode.

BTW i have a iphone 5.

can others try and see if this solves the problem for them? and if so - can anyone suggest an alternative to not leaving the phone without passcode?

I'm getting the same issues as well. I even had to get out my laptop, because safari wouldn't let me reply to this post. I'm extremely disappointed....

There's lag on the status bar when I unlock my phone, lag on the force touch animations, opening apps, closing apps, and animations are choppy and slow. This isn't acceptable considering how much I paid for this device. Multiple videos on youtube show how the iPhone 6s Plus runs animations 30fps compared to 60fps on the iPhone 6s. It's poorly optimized. The lag is also there on every device and it's unbearable. It's probably not likely that apple will actually listen to people like us complaining about this, but let's hope the performance will improve in future updates. I shouldn't have to turn on reduce transparency, restore my device, (which doesn't do anything btw, it's the software...) or try any other "tricks" to fix this stutter-y performance. Apple should optimize their devices PROPERLY!

It could be the blur effects that affect the animations on iOS 9 - 9.1.

(Also, in case you're wondering, every time I restore, I did set up as a new device.)

Other than that, my phone is zippy fast, it's just not as smooth as it should've been out of the box..... Praying that a future iOS update fixes things, and brings back that buttery smoothness we all love.

I have this problem as well. It feels like most of the time when I hit the updates, I have a lagging issue on my phone. I can notice the difference when I switch between the apps or taking pictures and browsing and opening up apps. Every now and then, I transfer all the data and do a restore the phone as new option. And it improves it a little bit. But that's how I am getting by and it's not too great. srk
