Q: Setup keychain on iPod without a phone sms

I have an iPod touch that wants to setup the iCloud keychain but I don't have a cell phone with sms to receive the code.  The phone number on record is my land-line phone at home.

How can I setup my iPod to use the iCloud keychain without sms message ability?  I have a macbook pro, if that can be of some use in verifying me via texting.

iPod touch (5th generation), iOS 9.1

    Yes by contacting Apple Support

How do I set up iCloud Keychain on a new device without another device to approve from?

If you can't access any of your other devices that are using iCloud Keychain, you can still set up iCloud Keychain on another device if you have these items:

    • Your iCloud Security Code
    • The device that is using the SMS-capable phone number you provided when you first set up iCloud Keychain. A verification code is sent via SMS to this phone number. If you can't access this number, contact Apple Support, who can verify your identity, so that you can complete setup on your new device.

After you complete the setup, your iCloud Keychain will be pushed from the cloud to the new device.

This doesn't help me because I've never owned a SMS capable phone.  I first started using iCloud with my macbook when I got it late last year and can't remember exactly the steps, but I didn't use a phone to get a code and I don't recall calling support to be verified.  I'm guessing that since it was just iCloud being set up for the first time didn't require the phone as I wasn't in need of the 'keychain' with just one device using the service.

I wish they had the option of an automated voice message sent to a phone with the code.
