Q: ios 9.1 stay away!

9.1 introduces a host of additional operating problems into the OS.   Please don't update until 9.2.

 

Screens overlap and are transparent.  Touch doesn't work consistently.   It appears many apps are incompatible.

    If you had bothered to read my post you would see that my current phone is A: a brand new phone given to me at the genius bar; B: restored and set up as new. Problems persist if I use my apple ID, but if I restore and setup new using my wife's ID everything is fine.

    If the problem comes when you restore your back up, the problem is corrupt data in your back up, not with iOS 9.1. Your description pretty much makes that certain.

         The only thing that is certain is that nobody is reading my post. Nor did you bother to read any comments before you posted. What you've suggested has already been said and replied to.

          My current phone is set up as new, not from a backup. Totally new phone, completely wiped, setup as new. Issues are still there. The only way that I get around the problems is by restoring to factory, setting up as new, and using my wife's Apple ID instead of my own.

         Before you suggest it, yes I've done the above and then logged into my own Apple ID. Immediately upon logging in all problems appear.

     

         The amount of people in these forums trying to minimize an issue to "it's your phone" or "it just needs to be restored to factory settings" is appalling. The only thing more irritating is the amount of people that seem to reply with 'fixes' after reading none or half of a comment detailing an issue.

    What you have proved is that there is data corruption in one of your iCloud databases. The problem doesn't appear until you log in. When you log in the phone syncs your contacts, calendars, email, notes, rReminders, Safari bookmarks, Safari cache, News, wallet, keychain, photos and iCloud drive. One of these is causing the battery drain. Go to Settings/iCloud and turn them all off. The problem will go away. Turn them on one at a time to find the one that is causing the problem.

         Though battery drain wasn't listed as an issue your reply is the first that doesn't blame the phone's hardware or a corrupt restore, so thanks. I left my phone at home since it's practically useless to me right now so when I get back I'll try your suggestion and see if it helps with any of my problems.

    Sorry; I'm so used to seeing battery drain as an issue that I responded automatically. As you are having music and store issues also if turning off iCloud functions don't fix it try logging out of the stores.

    No worries, happens to the best of us.

     

    Okay, so here's what I've done:

     

    Restored phone, setup as new, did not log in to iCloud, I DID LOG IN TO iTUNES & APP STORE. All problems are present.

     

    Then:

     

    1: Restore, setup as new, DO NOT LOG INTO ANYTHING

    2: Go to Settings>iCloud>Login

    3: Add my gmail account

    4: Attempt to open email link; WORKS

    5: Open Game Center; WORKS

    6: Open Music>Account>Login

    7: MUSIC NOW WORKS

    8: Go to Settings>App & iTunes store> for some reason after loading the page my iTunes account is already logged in, even though I never did it. Maybe when I logged into the Music app it also logged me into the App & iTunes store?

    9: Everything's broken again except for Music still works for some reason

     

    Then #2:

     

    1. Restore, setup as new, click "use different accounts for iCloud and iTunes

    2. Use my account for iCloud and wife's for App & iTunes store

    3. Open Game Center; WORKS

    4. Login to Gmail account, attempt to open link; WORKS

    5. Open Apple Music; WORKS (but it is my wife's information/likes/dislikes/playlists/etc)

    6. Open App Store, download app (clash of clans in this case); WORKS

    7. open clash of clans; WORKS

    8. setup Touch ID; WORKS

     

    Everything works fine on my phone now using my wife's info for the App & iTunes store. If I log into it myself then all my problems immediately come back.

    I have the same issues with my iPhone 5s, and I can confirm that it isn't an issue with the phone. You and I are not alone with this problem, and I had this problem with iOS 8.4.1, had to update to iOS 9 beta to get everything to work again. After they released iOS 9 final, everything was fine. iOS 9.1, every single problem came back. Can't use App Store, iTunes, email links won't work, games and apps won't work etc. and nothing helps with this problem, because it seems to be connected to some Apple ID's. So, no, this isn't a phone issue, and no matter how many new iPhones you get, as long as that phone has iOS 9.1, and you log into your Apple ID, nothing works.

    I reduced the problem down to logging into the App & iTunes store. For a compilation of everything I've done to correct this error see this thread:

    That's the strangest symptom I've ever seen, and I'm stumped about how to deal with it. I'll sleep on it and see if I have any ideas, and perhaps one of the other veterans has an idea.

    Just for kicks, log into "Manage Your Apple ID" and see if anything looks amiss:

     

    https://appleid.apple.com/

     

    Something as simple as an expired credit card may cause problems, but look for anything that may be out of date or prompting you for action.

     

    Yesterday I had a heck of a time sorting out my Mom's iCloud/ iTunes account on her iPad and it turned out to be two problems:  (1) After having her Apple ID for 2 years her password was deemed to be "too short", and (2) her card had expired.  Her iPad wouldn't back up to iCloud, I couldn't turn off Find My iPhone (to sign out of iCloud) and couldn't sign into the iTunes store in Settings, weird.  There was no indication of what the problem was, and I only figured it out by logging into managing her ID.  No guarantee that's what is going on on your end, but worth a look.

    Sorry, wrong place to look regarding your payment information .. it is not in "Manage Your Apple ID", from your computer it is accessed via iTunes, or you can get to it via your device:

     

    Change or remove your Apple ID payment information - Apple Support

    Well, that is a total non-response response. WHY do you disagree when the same problem appears on a new phone in an Apple Store? I'd like to hear real answers instead of such a lame one as I'm holding off going past iOS 9.0.2.

    My iPhone 6 Touch ID working flawless on ios 9.0.2

    but after update ios 9.1 , my touch id was not responding,can not reading finger print

    showing some time failed message

    every time i have to reset my iPhone for using touch id

    i erase my data & set up as new iPhone but again same issue i'm facing

     

    this is 100% cause by ios 9.1

     

    waiting for next update from apple, hope it will be fixed
