Q: waiting to update watch issue

Connected watch to the charger, phone to charger and both are synced.  Phone had latest operating system and watch had 2.0.   The phone updated to the latest watch update just fine and then went into waiting mode.  After overnight connected I turned off both devices and restarted both, phone first then watch.  Phone still said waiting to install.  For what is it waiting?

    Hi Gregory

Try these steps, which may help to address issues at or before the "verifying" stage. However, do not interrupt your iPhone or watch if the process has already reached the "installing" stage.

On your iPhone, close the Watch app along with all other open apps (double-press on the Home button, swipe up on each of the app previews).

Remove your watch from the charger and restart both devices; turn both off together first, then restart your iPhone first.

    - To turn your watch off: press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider; drag it to turn off.

    - To turn it back on: press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.

Replace your watch on the charger, keep your iPhone connected to power and try updating again by following the instructions here:

I have the same problem. Did everything already: waited overnight, removed Watch app, restarted iPhone and watch one after another, checked the storage - it's 5GB available, used 500 MB - nothing work! Except annoying multiple requests enter passcode again and again. Rather disappointing indeed, not how best technology company in the world should serve their customers.

If you are still experiencing issues, try unpairing and re-pairing your watch. The Watch app on your iPhone takes backups of your watch automatically, including a refresh when unpairing via the app. When setting it up again, choose to restore your watch from backup. Most data and settings will be restored, with some exceptions (eg Apple Pay cards).

Then try updating your watch again.
