Q: Apple Music stopped working on my Mac

Since this morning Apple Music stopped working on my Mac (iTunes 12.3.1.23). I tried to play some music for my iCloud Music Library and they won't play, saying that "You must be connected to the Internet in order to play Apple Music songs.", which is crazy because I am connected.

I tried signing off Apple Music, iTunes Store, re-enablign iCloud Music Library, restarting OS X. Nothing seems to be working. It's working perfectly on my iPhone, I can play everything and even add albums and tracks to My Music and they will show up on iTunes, but they won't play.  Streaming doesn't work either. The "For You" section never loads any tracks (though it loads the UI and everything). Beats 1 works OK.

The crazy thing is that I can download the tracks for offline listening, they just won't stream or play back.

Any ideas?

It fixed itself for me this morning, everything's working perfect now. I ddi had a DM exchange via Twitter with @AppleMusicHelp, they did some testing and that probably fixed it.

Exact same issue here on OS X El Capitan. Apple Music works fine from my iPhone, running iOS 9.1, but does not run on the Macbook, with the same error as OP stated.

    Some help would be appreciated.

    Hi everyone

I got touch with @AppleMusicHelp at Twitter and they solve my problem with stupid Sign Out/ Sign In. That's works for me. Below message from @AppleMusicHelp

"We can also sign out and back into your Apple ID to see if that will help. To sign out of your Apple ID, click the person icon in the right corner of iTunes and do "Sign Out". Then we can sign back in. Signing out of your Apple ID will remove all offline content you have added to My Music."

    Not for me it didn't

Apple music works fine from iOS and plays with the same Apple ID, but you get the error only on Mac..

I think the issue is to do more with the latest version of ITunes, because all Macs i have are currently still on Yosemite 10.10.5, and having this issue. However the issue also may be account related ????  because i have Apple music with a different Apple ID, and that plays fine with the latest iTunes, so i dunno.

I was able to solve it using Johan Verbeeck's solution:

    "

I was able to solve the problem through the suggestion under "Apple Music stopped working on my Mac":

Log out of your Apple ID and Log in again. This makes all Apple Music disappear.

I selected another artist and added this to my music. You get the question to merge with your existing music collection on iCloud. Yes.

Wait until iCloud ahs finished. That solved it for me.

I hope this was the last time I had to solve a problem with Apple Music. Third time in one month .

    "

taken from this thread Apple Music will not play song because not connected to the internet

I can't get anything to play and it's getting really, really annoying!!

I've signed out of iTunes (iMac) several times and rebooted twice but it either gives me the "you're not connected to the internet" message or just hangs and never plays. And the same is happening on my iPhone (9.1), which I've also signed out and back in several times as well as rebooted.

Having the same issue on my wife's iPhone as well as my daughter's. It works for a few seconds then hangs or pauses then plays, pause, play, pause, play, etc.

My hope is that this is just a temporary problem that'll fix itself overnight -- maybe there's some iCloud server issues -- but right now my experience is broken and is really ******* me off.

In a world where we're beginning to stream almost everything these sort of false starts and bumps just can't happen as trust in the system starts to break down. Just ask anyone in Kansas City.
