Does the IPod Nano require a driver to function?

I just purchased a the nano. Gave it a full charge, and installed ITunes. Windows tries to install the usbstor.inf driver for the ipod but then says that the data is invalid. I've tried all of the recommended fixes. Am I missing something? I'm running Win2K SP4.
