Q: iOS 9.1 unable to search contacts

I have an iPhone6, I upgraded to iOS9.1 yesterday and today I am unable to search in Contacts app or for Contacts in the Phone app

I am able to search contacts from Messages.

I am able to search contacts from spotlight search.

 

I was running iOS 9.0.2 prior.

I am Exchange tethered.

 

Anyone else?

A:

Today I performed the following in this order......with no success in correcting the search in Contacts app or Contacts in the Phone app

 

  1. I did an iOS reinstalled/update from recovery mode (If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support)
  2. I did a complete local backup in iTunes
  3. I did Erase All Content and Settings
  4. I did a restore of backup with iTunes

 

I will disable the Exchange tether later and post the results.

    the same problem returning again and again - I definitely do not intend to erase the entire phone, manuály note and backup all the settings and try to remember what I have to re-set again when ressurecting the phone from zero and without using a backup. This cannot be considered as a proper solution of a newly introduced BUG apparently comming with iOS 9.x. Apple needs to come with a fix working for all users ... based on a google search for a solution this is apparently a widespred issue

    I am using v 9.2 on my iPhone6S and it still doesn't work. Is there a solution?

    It is very annoying. Thanks.
