using iTunes downloads in Adobe Premiere Elements

Hi -- I'm making a home movie for my wife and kids, and would like to use a few songs that I've bought from iTunes. The home movie program I'm using is Adobe Premiere Elements. It isn't letting me load any of the songs purchased from iTunes. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks.

Hi,

According to this Adobe techdoc page, if I read it correctly, you cannot import AAC files (iTunes Store songs format) into Premiere Elements.

I'd suggest converting your AAC file into another format (like mp3). If you right click on the song you want in iTunes, there's an option to convert it in mp3 format. But if you want to keep the original AAC file format, I don't know. Maybe create a duplicate, then convert the duplicate?

Personally, if I had many audio files to convert, I'd use some third-party software, like Easy CD-DA Extractor. It's shareware, but there's a free fully fonctionnal demo available. Not sure it will work on AAC protected files though, I haven't tried it.

I was attempting the same thing, this was a big help - thanks. Unfortunately, you cannot convert any of the songs that you've purchased from iTunes!
So - there is one workaround - burn the song(s) you want on to a CD, that records them in a format that can be imported into Adobe Premier Elements. Voila!

(For conversion instructions):
Open the iTunes Help, Index tab, AAC (right near the top), 'Saving a copy of a song in a new file format). The instructions show you how to change the format of your Imported songs (this same setting affects the output format of your converted songs as well).
