El Capitan doen not connect to synology server

After upgrading to El Capitan my Macbook pro (2014) does not connect to my Synology disk station in Finder any longer. The disk is shown on the menu but when clicking is says connecting ... for a few seconds and then says not connected. looks like it is missing a password. I do have access to my Synology disk through iPhone and iPad without problems. All other recent upgrades to OS X went without any issues. When I access the diskstation via safari I do get in.

Have the same issue and ZERO response from anyone at Apple. They are a wreck of a company at this point in time. Sad to see but hopeless.

Found in this an earlier thread at it worked for me:


Glad it's working! Mine actually disconnected again after that change. If this happens to you, here's another option that seems to have been working for me more permanently:


- Go to System Preferences

- Go to Network

- Remove the network that is connecting you (hit the "-" at the bottom of the screen)

- Rebuild that connection by clicking the "+" at the booth of the screen

I have had this problem as well.

After a dialogue with Synology Support Services I have established my problem was caused by locating my Apple Time Machine on my Synology NAS! I found that as soon as I reconfigured my Synology unit not to provide Time Machine support in the 'File Services' section then everything sprang to life! Don't forget to disconnect 'TimeMachine' in System Preferences first.


Note that Synology are currently blaming Apple for this problem. I have disputed this with them as I also have a QNAP NAS which still works perfectly well with Time Machine.
