Question

How do you make an aggregate device persistent.

I lose the aggregate device of my two MOTU 828 interfaces whenever I reboot.

Mac Pro (Late 2013), OS X Mavericks (10.9.3)

The Aggregate Device is a Virtual Device that you create in the Audio MIDI Setup utility. If the real Devices that are "used" in that Virtual Device are not available to the OSX anymore (disconnected, driver, or other issues) then the Aggregate Device will loose those missing channels.

Thanks for your response. The interfaces I am using do not lose power or become disconnected. However they are Firewire devices which must use a 1394 to Thunderbolt adapter to be available to the Mac. A 2013 Mac Pro running OS X 10.10.5.

The devices are available as soon as I boot into OS X, the sample rate is the same as I had left it, 88.2. However the Aggregate device is gone.

In case anyone is wondering why I need two 14 input devices at once, this is because I have dispensed with using a mixer and route all of my audio devices through teh 828MKII units. They have facilities to create mixes in standalone mode, so I can use them whether my Mac is on or no.

However, as I keep losing aggregate device whenever I reboot, I tend to NOT reboot.

There must be a plist to edit?

I also find that I do not always have all of my inputs available at once. I wonder if this is related?

I haven't created an Aggregate Device for a while, but I seem to remember it worked best if you did when logged in as an Administrator.
