Apple Watch vs Fitbit Charge HR

I want to buy one of these watches mainly to track calories burned. I have a question about if/ how the Apple watch tracks calories burned while sleeping compared to the Fitbit.

From what I've read, the Fitbit Charge HR is designed to be worn all day and night while sleeping. When you wake up you see calories burned while you slept which would contribute to an accurate tally of calories burned in a 24 hour period.

The Apple watch is designed to be taken off at night to charge the battery. So, how does the Apple Watch account for calories burned at night while sleeping if it's charging and not on your wrist?

Any help would be appreciated! Sorry if this is a repeat question. I've talked to 2 Genius Bar associates, 1 guy at Best Buy and nobody can answer this.

Thanks for any help or suggestions!

I can't answer your question about calories burned at night but I can tell you I do wear my apple watch at night. I use it to wake me in the morning instead of a regular alarm. This helps to not wake my wife. I charge my watch when I am sitting at my desk at work (basically when I am not moving around the office). I will also charge it right before going to bed. I am not sure where to look for calories burned because the Health App captures Active Energy and on the watch I can only find Active Calories. Since you are sleeping I don't think it captures much during the night. I could be wrong but I did want to let you know you can wear it at night.
