When I say, "Hey Siri, play music" she says "Uh-oh, looks like you're not on Wi-Fi and haven't enabled cellular data in Settings". Why would I need this to play music that I put on my phone from iTunes and how do I get Siri to just play my music?

IF you have updated to the point that you have the apple music then more than likely you don't have an actual hard copy of the song on your phone. If you are steaming the music and have it so you only use wifi then it will not let you use your music outside of the wifi. I had this problem, I disabled apple music and just synced my songs with my iTunes, and when I say synced I synced the actual hard copy of the song to my phone, not the steaming copy. Hope this helps some.
It has nothing to do with being able to play your music. It's Siri that requires a data connection. Without WiFi or cellular data, Siri doesn't work. You don't need data to play music, you need data to use Siri.
I made sure to put the music on my phone's hardrive, it's taking up 22 gigs on the bad boy. I have a feeling there is something screwy in Siri's programming that will hopefully be fixed. It seems to work if I say "Play my music", but if I say to play a specific artist or just say "Play music" then I get the aforementioned response.
I agree, there seems to be a programming issue with Siri. I have a combination of music I own and loaded to my phone via itunes, as well as online purhases.
all of my music does seem to me stored on my phone under the current settings, but Siri gives me the same response when I ask to play a song.
hate to burst your bubble; but if they have the newest iOS then it has Apple Music and if they have it all merged together then yes they will need data or wifi to use it depending their settings.
I do have WiFi connected, the issue isn't using Siri, it must be in Siri's programing. Thanks for the response!
