Macbook 12 battery drain in sleep

Without using some other app, I think your Mac will always sleep when you close the lid. Did you do anything special to stop it sleeping?

No, Mac does not have a regedit equivalent. There is no such thing as a registry (which most people see as an advantage - no single point of failure). Most things keep settings in separate plist files etc. After you have reverted the plist, have you checked to see whether your Mac is back to its old behaviour of waking every two hours, regardless of the result of the grep? I suspect it will be.

I am not at all familiar with amule, but from a quick search it seems as though these sorts of alerts should only happen with a debug version of the software.

Stephen, have you updated to latest 10.12.4 yet? I just realized that settings were overwritten and it's back to the way it was before the edits were made. Strangely though, I left it alone overnight and in the morning it's still at 100%, so no drain, but pmset log shows wakes every hour or so and no deep sleep. It seems Apple made some changes to how this works. I really do not see what the benefit of this is at all, but at least the drain is no longer an issue.

Update: I no longer recommend using this fix. Something changed in 10.12.4. After redoing the steps outlined, I saw that the drain was about the same as without the fix, but then for the next days saw that it actually was worse. One night my battery dropped 10% overnight, and pmset showed no wakes. Very odd. I had to revert to a Time Machine backup because simply undoing the steps by changing the text does not revert this for whatever reason. So my suggestion is that if you are on 10.12.4 then do not follow this guide and learn to live with the slight drain that occurs. I'm not aware of any fix at the moment. Note this is with a 2016 MBP nTB so it may be different with 2015 or the regular MB.

Hi there, so a did a fresh install of 10.12.4 last month and everything was working fine, I updated to 10.12.5 and all was fine too, but this morning I've opened the lid with 92% (actually 88% using coconutbattery battery meter) after a 16 hour sleep. Here you can see the logs:

Great dialog here. Seems like the whole network sleep item is understood, however, I am also getting lots of wake reasons due to "RTC/Maintenance" about every 1-2 hours. Any thoughts on what is the cause of that? Is it related to the TCP status?

Hello, just wondering if you found a solution? I have observed similar (though less extreme!) behaviour from my 5-day old Macbook which wakes itself approximately 12 hours after going to sleep, causing unnecessary battery usage. Power nap, wake for bluetooth, etc. are off; do not disturb is on; nothing is plugged in; I checked pmset -g sched and there are no wake events scheduled. The reason given each time is the same as yours - "DarkWake from Standby [CDN] due to RTC/Maintenance". Does anyone know what that means and what might be waking the computer?
