Q: Bootcamp does not work because Macbook air has no optical disk reader

I cannot install bootcamp that came with El Capitan release because it requires an optical disk reader. Macbook air does not have one.

I found a few tricks online using a simualted DVD reader. This lets Bootcamp partion the disk, but it does not continue from there onwards.

Any suggestion or do I have to drop my excellently working 2010 machine?

Does it not give you the option to create a usb installer?

Thanks. It does not give an option to use an USB device. In fact, it states that the requirement is to have an optical disk. Others have run into the same problem, but their solution does not work on El Capitan.
The article suggests that an external optical disk might do the job, but I do not have one and I am not certain that this article refers to El Capitan.
