Since installing El Capitan earlier today (10/23/15), whenever I try to reply to or forward an email, Mail crashes. It seems to receive and send just fine. I think I hate El Capitan. Any thoughts? My only complaint ever with Apple is my mail situation; it has never worked well - ever - on any Mac. Thanks.
DDitto for me. If I open the message before replying or forwarding, it works. Strange bug.

II've tried the rebuild with no luck.
NO luck with preference fix either. Instant crash, no error messages.
Hi. If you are sure you settings are correct for your mail account, then you may need to check the port setting in mail preferences /advanced. I had that problem when going from snow leopard to yosemite. My port changed from 110 to 25.https://support.apple.com/kb/PH22328?locale=en_US
Hi here is some other useful info for mail. You may have to reinter all the mail settings in mail preferences. Be advise that you mail login is stored in the keychain folder in utilities. If the two don't march you cannot send mail. If you are not sure which port you should be using your internet provider can tell you which one. https://support.apple.com/kb/PH22275?locale=en_US
mail will send if the message is open, just not from the browse view. That means it is not related to account setting, but something to do with the view.

Hi. I am not sure i follow you here. When in mail you click on new message and write an email hit send it sends it? When you use reply and then send it does not. Or are you doing this outside your mailbox?
A New message will always send. If I open a message and reply or forward, it always sends. But if I view in browse mode and try to reply or send, it crashes
Hi. When I click reply or forward from the top menu, it opens a window in which I can add text. Then in that window click send. If clicking forward it will use my address book for where. I have to select. Foward all will use all contacts in my address book. Could you be having a problem with contacts in the address book.

Are you using an SMPT or IMAP account. When you click on new message do you get a window to type and send mail.
i have IMAP accounts. It is more like the application is getting the command to quit than reply or forward.
Hi. In looking around I find no links to a problem of mail just quitting when trying to reply in mail. Do you get a mail unexpectedly quit popup? You might find something helpful in you crash logs. The other thing you could try is to go to your home folder/library/preferences/Com.Apple.Mail and Com.Apple.Mail Service Agent and delete them. The preference files will recreate as soon as you restart and go to mail.
