Q: how come my late 2009 macbook is not listed here on the firmware page, should it just use the 2010 one?

I found a firmware page that was recently updated even but it doesn't list my macbook firmware version, only 5,1 then it jumps to 7,1. Should i use that firmware?

MacBook, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1), Late 2009

You shouldn't do that. If there's no listed firmware for your MacBook, it means you don 't need to update it.
