Q: My MacBook Pro is in trouble

Hi,

My MacBook Pro is always running out of space, and most of the time it get panic and re-starts itself while I am working.

I am also facing issues with space, every time I delete files or transfer files to external drive and I found it is probably gathering

all data in *Other* folder on HD which is growing all the time, then it shows Zero KB free space. Recently I visited an expert who

has deleted Cache folders and created 32GB free space, but again in 3 days it has now 10 GB free apce left, I am afraid my MacBook Pro

will be out space any time in next 1-2 days. Anyone can help or guide me what can be done to solve the probelm and avaoid this issue in future.

I will appreciate it.

First understand what OTHER is:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202867

The 'category' label is not your problem.

Download from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper and Grand Perspective (both free) and open them. They will show all of your files and the respective sizes. Transfer to an external HDD or delete files you no longer want on your MBP.

Do not forget to empty trash. Only then is space allocated for new data.

Run Disk Utility to check and repair permissions.

Install OnyX (free utility). Download it at http://www.titanium.free.fr/onyx.html.

Use OnyX to delete cache files and run the Mac's (daily, weekly and monthly maintenance scripts. Look at the screen snapshots at the url below.
