Oct 24, 2015 6:46 AM in response to RPM800by Barney-15E,Well, if you put a window into Split screen, it occupies one side of the screen, and then is waiting for you to select another window to put on the other side of the screen. You should see a few small windows to select from, and also see the picture in the background. That background is called the Desktop.
You can also press the esc key to get out of split view.
However, I'm not sure that is what you are seeing. Your description makes me think that is what is happening, but I can't be certain as I cannot see it.
You can take a screen shot of the screen by pressing Cmd-shift-3. That will create a file in your desktop folder that is a picture of everything on your screen.
You can drag that file into a reply window here and post the picture.

Oct 24, 2015 7:54 AM in response to Barney-15Eby RPM800,Screen shot attached, but it doesn't show the issue. To repeat, the left half of my screen has a slightly darker tint than the right. Doesn't change with window size. Same issue any app. Only thing I've done this morning that might be relevant is that I was reading MacWorld online with their Zinio reader, and switched back and forth from regular window to full screen.
Appreciate your continued help...and patience!

Oct 24, 2015 9:33 AM in response to RPM800by Barney-15E,I can't tell any difference in that screen shot.
What you are seeing has nothing to do with split screen, and I'm not sure exactly what you are seeing.
