Q: Apple Music not working on iPhone 6 after iOS 9.1

I foolishly updated both iPhone 6 and iPad Mini with the new iOS 9.1 on the day of release, and spent all day yesterday trying to make Apple Music work. around 11pm, it finally worked on my iPad after login/signing on and off for a few hours, today it shows everything fine, but don't play anything. After communicating with Apple Music Help on Twitter I decided to re-install it all on the iPhone 6, hours of the signing on and off frozen, Apple Music on the phone shows For You, New and Connect OK, but won't play, Radio doesn't load at all and My Music is empty, not linking to my Music Match on ICloud. Now (Saturday 16:26), I can only listen to my music and Beats 1 from my main MacBook Pro... I definitely think this iOS 9.1 is a massive mistake. I am trying to reset my iPhone from scratch as I type this, backing it up from the Cloud from 3 days ago, but I launched this 1 hour ago and it still does nothing.... Not very convenient to do the Beats Run tomorrow if I need to png in my laptop in a rucksack as no small device is usable.

MacBookPro, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

Despite directing the Apple Technical Support Advisor towards this thread, he still considered my case unusual and wasn't aware of any similar problems reported. So my concern is this won't be fixed by development as a matter of priority and we'll have to wait for 9.2

So far the bug in the IOS 9.1 update from 26th October has cost me:

    £950 / $1444 / €1328 :

    in dead/bricked/fried IPhone 6,

    half dead IPad Mini,

IPod Touch I had to buy and don't want and will hopefully have fully refunded by Apple on Monday,

nearly 3 weeks of my ITunes Match and Apple Music subscriptions,

Car Park whilst at the "Genius Bar" of the Apple Store.

26 hours wasted over the last 2 weeks in Internet research about the bug, posting on Apple Support Group page, Twitter, Facebook, "Genius Bar" meeting at Apple Store, phone calls with Apple Support in the UK and the US... And a few hours sleep because it worries me!

Just to contribute, I have tried everything short of replacing my phone to fix this issue. I restored my 6s both from a backup and restored as a new phone, I DFU'd my phone and set it up as a new phone and restored from a backup, nothing has worked.

The "Password Settings" option under "iTunes & App Stores" will be present for a while, then just disappear - this causes the entire "iTunes and App Stores" settings to freak out and viewing my Apple ID from here becomes impossible (it just freezes) and if I sign out, I can't sign back in without restarting my phone.ly

When I restart my phone, I'm almost immediately prompted to verify my Apple ID password, which doesn't seem to do much.

Trying to stream music through Apple Music doesn't do anything, until eventually I'm told to join or start a trial (even though I just paid for another month about a week ago), and choosing either option causes the app to freeze.

And downloading apps I've already purchased (trying to put them back after setting my phone up as new) causes them to just sit there thinking and not actually download. When I restart my phone, I'm told the app couldn't be purchased at that time and sometimes, it still won't download when I go back into the App store.

To say this has been giving me a headache is putting it mildly. I'm really becoming tempted to go back to Spotify at this point, despite how much I like Apple Music.

Could it be because my Apple id is a gmail id and not an icloud one?

Whenever I sign out, and try to sign back in,  in the 'User id' and 'Password' box it automatically puts in my icloud id,  which is a different one.

    Sigh!
This is becoming such a big pain!

I hope Apple is listening and releases a patch.

Also, need to know if there is someway i can update this current id with all the purchases to a new id.

This bug made my $350 apple watch worthless because my watch won't work with 8.4.1, I need this fixed or to be compensated fully

Not sure if this is the same problem, but I'm having an issue with the music app on iOS freezing at the splash screen.

Music app sticks on splash screen.

It started on both my iPhone and iPad 4 days ago. I updated to iOS 9.1 quite a while before, as soon as it was available. Resetting all settings seems to have fixed the problem in my iPad, but not on my iPhone. Apple support suggested doing a full re-install of iOS. I'll try that when I have time.

JJust got a call from a senior engineer.  They want to create a test device with my Apple ID.  I'll keep you posted.

If the senior engineer would like to test with another Apple ID, I'll offer mine.

I am having the exact same issue as reported in this and other threads with my 64gb 6s plus.  I had a genius bar appointment today and they tried everything including having me sign into different phones and the only thing that worked was logging into a phone with 8.4 and everything was fine.  This is clearly a 9.1 issue and I have lost business already because I am unable to get any apps on my phone loaded.  I don't want to move to Android but Apple has really dropped the ball with this. I now have a $850 text/call machine.  Also what are the odds they will refund Apple Radio subscriptions since I can't listen to any music on my phone?

I can also let them test this with my Apple ID. Maybe if they can experience this on hand with a lot of Apple IDs it will be escalated as a bug and not an isolated case anymore.

    This is for anyone having trouble loading there Music application;

    Restart iPhone

    Go to general settings

    Log-out of iCloud

    Turn on airplane mode

    Then launch music application

This method worked for me but I can't guarantee that it will also work for you, I'm just sharing how I was able to load my music and playlists in my music application after upgrading to 9.1
