Q: Apple Music not working on iPhone 6 after iOS 9.1

I foolishly updated both iPhone 6 and iPad Mini with the new iOS 9.1 on the day of release, and spent all day yesterday trying to make Apple Music work. around 11pm, it finally worked on my iPad after login/signing on and off for a few hours, today it shows everything fine, but don't play anything. After communicating with Apple Music Help on Twitter I decided to re-install it all on the iPhone 6, hours of the signing on and off frozen, Apple Music on the phone shows For You, New and Connect OK, but won't play, Radio doesn't load at all and My Music is empty, not linking to my Music Match on ICloud. Now (Saturday 16:26), I can only listen to my music and Beats 1 from my main MacBook Pro... I definitely think this iOS 9.1 is a massive mistake. I am trying to reset my iPhone from scratch as I type this, backing it up from the Cloud from 3 days ago, but I launched this 1 hour ago and it still does nothing.... Not very convenient to do the Beats Run tomorrow if I need to png in my laptop in a rucksack as no small device is usable.

MacBookPro, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

On my last call to support (Friday, Nov. 6) they suggested I try this same thing and directed me to this support article on how to do it. ----> If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

I tried just the Update option so far and that still did not work. I am now going to try the Restore option as you suggest and see if that makes a difference for me. I will report back my results.

Other thread with similar issues here: Re: iOS 9.1 causing app store issues

Now for the people following here, here is my status:

My iPad Mini has been working as normal (meaning prior to 9.1!) since Monday night (2nd November), after not working since Friday 23rd October... Today since 16:00 (UK time), all usual things are dead again: no hyperlinks, no Apps store, no Apple Music... My iPhone 6 literaly died (black screen with the Apple in the middle, heating up furiously) this week on Wednesday 4th November.

THE ONLY WAY is to have replacement for all our devices, and NEVER to update from 9.02. I have another appointment at the Genius bar on Monday morning, I won't leave their shop until they offer me a solution

The iPod Touch I bought after my Genius Bar appointment last Saturday 31st October is working perfectly (running on IOS 9.02) and my Mac Book Pro as well...

Just reporting in on my beta iOS 9.2 experiences. Everything virtually the same bug-wise. Had a couple occasions where Music worked, but only for a hour or so. My only workaround is to sign out of iTunes and the App Store then reset. If I want new music or apps or even updates, I have to purchase them on my iMac and then transfer them to the phone.

As for my AppleID, it goes way back to the “Dot Mac” days around 2003. My wife has a “Dot Me” account and hasn’t encountered the 9.1 bug. When I tried to sign in with her account information, it came up with my account name. Also, I have enabled two-step verification. Not sure if any of this information matters to the bug, unless most people on this thread have older accounts. Just thought I’d throw it out there.

Because I’ve had no problems with iCloud, and my AppleID works well on the iMac and 9.0.2 iPad, I’m increasingly sure that this bug has to do with the Store handshake and its inability to keep the info stored once logged in. As I’ve said before, my best bet is that it relates to a corrupted cache, not to the validity of the Apple ID. If so, it would be an easy fix once Apple’s engineers are alerted to, and care about, the problem.

I’m ready for this not to be solved in days, weeks, or even the next month. But, I believe, it will be fixed.

I convinced Verizon to let me switch to a galaxy S6. Apple just isn't what it used to be. This update was the last straw. Never mind the constant buffering and issues with my Apple Music and iTunes Match not working properly and the inability to make songs available offline and have them stay on my phone. Glad Verizon made an exception for me.

Have Apple fixed it? I've had the Apple ID bug for 10 days. I'm in support limbo with my ID in use be Apple's engineers. I signed out of iTunes Store for 3 days because I'd given up until they get a fix. At least I can get app updates this way. I've been using Google Music until they fix this bug. Yesterday I signed back in to the store to try to download a new app. Lo and behold, for the last 20 hours everything is working perfectly. App Store downloads apps. Music streams from iTunes Match. The reason I ask if Apple fixed the bug is because the longest I could go before everything crapped out was about 10 minutes. Anybody else get everything working or is this just temporary like before?

Im having this issue also, can anyone give us an update of when this Apple ID issue is going to be resolved, its so frustrating as people are with apple due to there reliability. Is anyone else being asked for there apple id password everytime they power the phone or tablet off then on again??

As far as it goes at the moment, Apple is still ignoring the issue, treating it as "exception" , I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere online, they only talk about the Touch ID problem, nothing about what we are all experiencing on this thread for the last 2 weeks. This is a conflict between IOS 9.1 and Itunes Apple ID, Apple Music is NOT the cause, it is IOS 9.1. From what I have been told, nobody can revert any of our devices prior to IOS 9.1, the option is not available. So at the moment, the only fix is to rely on nice people in Apple Shops worldwide to replace our devices to ones "out of the box" running on the previous IOS version (9.02 was working perfectly)

To  anyone  having been given new devices running prior to IOS 9.1, DO NOT UPDATE until Apple announces officially that the issues are fixed!

I have a Genius Bar appointment tomorrow morning, I'll post what will the outcome be.

As previously said, I got an IPod Touch last week to use until this IOS 9.1 is sorted, out of the box it is under IOS 9.2: Not a single problem at all.

This may sound stupid question, but the fact that a lot of us are having this issue, do you believe apple will bring a fix shortly for it, as i can't download apps or play new music.....

As unbelievable as it may sound, we may appear as "a lot" here, but we are obviously not enough for Apple to notice us, unfortunately!

So pretty much what we are saying here, is for us to resolve this issue, we need to goto an apple store and get a phone with iOS 9.0.2??

I am afraid that at the moment, it is the ONLY viable solution!  I spent hours "Tweeting" this thread and the other one I mentioned further up to attract attention with newspapers and various Apple Twitter accounts, nobody mentioned our issue, except tthis one: http://www.iphonehacks.com/2015/11/ios-9-1-app-store-issues.html

it is very time consuming but we need to post this everywhere we can on the Internet!

All new devices are now 9.1, Apple has stopped signing 9.0.2. I am getting a new handset next week because of a hardware issue but have been talking to Apple for almost 3 weeks on this issue. While they listen there is no admission of this being a known problem. I have two IDs and the issue occurs on only one of them. worth noting it happens on the ID linked to Apple Music.

Strategies we all can use: become a public beta tester for iOS 9.2 and use the Feedback Assistant liberally, post to Twitter about your problems using words or hashtags like iOS 9.1 bug, AppleID, iTunes & App Store, also provide links to the articles written about the bug.
