Q: Apple Music not working on iPhone 6 after iOS 9.1

I foolishly updated both iPhone 6 and iPad Mini with the new iOS 9.1 on the day of release, and spent all day yesterday trying to make Apple Music work. around 11pm, it finally worked on my iPad after login/signing on and off for a few hours, today it shows everything fine, but don't play anything. After communicating with Apple Music Help on Twitter I decided to re-install it all on the iPhone 6, hours of the signing on and off frozen, Apple Music on the phone shows For You, New and Connect OK, but won't play, Radio doesn't load at all and My Music is empty, not linking to my Music Match on ICloud. Now (Saturday 16:26), I can only listen to my music and Beats 1 from my main MacBook Pro... I definitely think this iOS 9.1 is a massive mistake. I am trying to reset my iPhone from scratch as I type this, backing it up from the Cloud from 3 days ago, but I launched this 1 hour ago and it still does nothing.... Not very convenient to do the Beats Run tomorrow if I need to png in my laptop in a rucksack as no small device is usable.

MacBookPro, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

The two-factor authentication trick lasted about two hours for me before everything stopped working again - back to waiting for 9.2.

    Hi all,

FYI Apple is not monitoring those forums.

You have to report all your issues here : https://developer.apple.com/bug-reporting/

The more people are reporting this the higher the priority will be for the bug!

Explain the bug, attach video recordings/link to youtube (if any) showing the bug, collect and attach the following system diagnostics log from your phone :

    1. Hold both of the volume buttons and Power button until you feel a short vibration from the iOS device.

    2. Sync to iTunes on your host computer.

    3. Find the file that was created on your host machine.

Note: The file the sysdiagnose folder will look similar to: "sysdiagnose_YYYY.MM.DD_HH-MM-SS-XXXX.tar.gz"

    Log locations:

    OS X:

    ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/[Your Device Name]/DiagnosticLogs/sysdiagnose/

Note: "~/" your user folder or /Users/[your_user_name_here]/Library/Logs/... not the root level /Library/Logs/... path

    Windows 8:

    C:\Users\[Your User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice\[Your Device Name]\DiagnosticLogs\sysdiagnose\

Note: The AppData folder is hidden by default. Click the View menu item and check the "Hidden items" checkbox and AppData will appear in the list.

    Windows 7 and Vista:

    C:\Users\[Your User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice\[Your Device Name]\DiagnosticLogs\sysdiagnose\

Note: The AppData folder is hidden by default. Choose Folder and Search Options from the Organize menu in the file browser window, then click the View tab and change the "Hidden files and folders" option to "Show hidden files and folders".

    Windows XP:

    C:\Documents and Settings\[Your User Name]\Application Data\Apple Computer\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice\[Your Device Name]\DiagnosticLogs\sysdiagnose\

Note: The Application Data folder is hidden by default. Choose Tools > Folder Options in the file browser window, then click the View tab and change the "Hidden files and folders" option to "Show hidden files and folders".

    4. Attach the sysdiagnose file to the bug.

After that if engineering needs more info they will contact you.

    Cheers

@Jukatax - So, can anyone login as a developer or is this message directed only to those in the dev program?

I haven't got enough time or energy to waste on this anymore. Each Apple Care Advisor I've dealt with has escalated the issue to development before disappearing from all contact. I'm sure the issue will be resolved eventually, but I won't be renewing my apple music subscription that's for sure.

I can now confirm that Apple engineers are investigating my account. They agreed that it wasn't just our devices, and have today begun to work on this issue.

    @Noah Wiles,

Yep , I've created my dev account as simple as any other account. Feel free to report any issue you are having, just as I do. Engineers are pretty helpful.

    Cheers

I hope they don't treat it as a case by case. I talked to so many advisors, I won't know who to tell the story over and over again. At this point I consider my IPad the most expensive Solitaire game ever! So lucky to have had my IPhone 6 exchanged and working on 8.4.1, I won't update it until I am sure that a new OS system fixes this complete mess.

Cancelling my two-step verification has led to the best results so far. After a few hours of using my iPhone, problems return. But I've found that if I put the phone into Airplane Mode and then reset it, I can get things going well again, at least for a few hours. My takeaway, is that Apple's ID system became messed up when it added in the two-step option for some uses while a single step works for others. That's just a guess.

But I don't have two step verification, and still facing problems. So that can't be the reason.

First of all, neither me nor my son are signed up for Apple Music, not even the free trial. If you are signed up for it, your mileage may vary. About 3 weeks ago, I noticed my son's iPhone 5 (iOS 9.1) kept getting stuck on the Apple Music splash screen every time I opened his Music app. I would see his locally stored music for a couple seconds before the splash screen appeared. That same day, it started doing it on my iPhone 6 (also iOS 9.1). After trying a few different things, I finally found a workaround. On his phone, I went to Settings - Music and clicked Join Apple Music near the top and it automatically opened the Music app WITHOUT the stuck splash screen. I tried it on my phone and when it opened the Music app, it asked me if I wanted to start the 3 month free trial of Apple Music again (I had already told it no when I first updated to 9.1). Once I told it no again, I haven't seen the stuck splash screen on my phone since. On my son's phone, it never gave me the free trial choice, but this workaround allowed the Music app to stay open without getting stuck. Here's where yours might be different...if you are signed up for Apple Music, it may not say "Join Apple Music" in Settings.

    WOW!

That's the exactly the correct answer!

Settings -> Music -> Join Apple Music

    Awesome! Thank you.

BTW, APPLE: FIX THAT SPLASH SCREEN BUG!!!! OR AT LEAST SEND AN EMAIL SAYING WHAT WE SHOULD DO!
