Q: Apple Music not working on iPhone 6 after iOS 9.1

I foolishly updated both iPhone 6 and iPad Mini with the new iOS 9.1 on the day of release, and spent all day yesterday trying to make Apple Music work. around 11pm, it finally worked on my iPad after login/signing on and off for a few hours, today it shows everything fine, but don't play anything. After communicating with Apple Music Help on Twitter I decided to re-install it all on the iPhone 6, hours of the signing on and off frozen, Apple Music on the phone shows For You, New and Connect OK, but won't play, Radio doesn't load at all and My Music is empty, not linking to my Music Match on ICloud. Now (Saturday 16:26), I can only listen to my music and Beats 1 from my main MacBook Pro... I definitely think this iOS 9.1 is a massive mistake. I am trying to reset my iPhone from scratch as I type this, backing it up from the Cloud from 3 days ago, but I launched this 1 hour ago and it still does nothing.... Not very convenient to do the Beats Run tomorrow if I need to png in my laptop in a rucksack as no small device is usable.

MacBookPro, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

This happened to me when I wiped and restored my iPhone, third party apps either wouldn't download or came back with all internal data missing (local scores, logins, etc). Ultimately I was able to grab a month-old iCloud backup, pre-9.1, that had all the third party app data intact.

I suspect this this has to do with the fact that 9.1 breaks the link between Apple ID and App Store, so third party apps aren't backing up properly. That's just a guess though.

Now I wonder if we set up an IPhone and IPad fresh out of the box, if we would be able to be back on tracks...

This did not work for me. I tried a restore as new and I still had the issue. It is either a device issue or an Apple ID issue :/

I didn't mean "restore as new" on our existing devices, this didn't work either on Phone or Pad, I meant on brand new devices.

Oddly enough, my iPad 4 has worked well on 9.1. My iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone 4S, and iPad Mini have the problem. And when all were on 9.0.2, no problems. Getting a new phone doesn't seem like an answer. Just need enough patience to wait for the next update.

    Go to Settings>Music

    Click Join Apple Music

    Select GO TO MY MUSIC

Fixed Music with 9.1 upgrade issues for me.

Sadly this does not work for me. I have 2 IDs and regardless of which I am signed in as I am asked to transfer my device to the ID.

I have the exact same issue. I updated to 9.1, Apple Music became unresponsive and any Apple Music I had stored on my iPhone was gone, I couldn't download or update from the iTunes or App Stores,  iCloud couldn't back up and some games don't get past the first screen. Apple support made it seem like it was just me having issues. They've had me restore my phone to factory settings three times with no luck. Whatever happened to "it just works"? I cancelled Apple Music figuring it's crazy to pay for something I can't use.....

The plot thickens, yesterday I went to my local Apple Store: we tried a reset of my iPad, so erased all the apps I had installed on it: The issue is that Apple ID is GOOD with ICloud, but IOS 9.1 killed something that links between Apple ID and Apps Store/Itunes: which is why it doesn't download apps, doesn't show in app store any of the apps I own that are now on the Cloud, doesn't load and play Apple Music (I guess because it is linked to Itunes too),and hyperlinks in emails don't work.

At the store I had to buy an IPod Touch to be able to listen the Apple Music / Beats 1 (which I need for work), that iPod Touch is running with IOS 9.02 out of the box, and everything I downloaded (Twitter app, Apple Music, etc), hyperlinks in emails, etc.... all that works flawlessly.... That little lifesaver of iPod Touch today is promoting me in "Settings" to download to IOS 9.1, as I may return that iPod I don't need within the 15 days policy with Apple, I won't touch that under any circumstances!

As of 12:30pm Eastern standard time (US east coast) everything working normally. I didn't do anything, just using phone normally and noticed everything was working again - Apple Music, email links, downloading apps, etc. To everyone reading this, please post if you're experiencing the same thing at the same time where you are, would be interesting to compare notes.

we'll see how long this lasts - in the meantime furiously downloading as much music as possible before the next big freeze lol

It is November 1, 2015 and as of 1:40 PM in New Orleans, LA I am still dealing with the same problems. Not being able to stream music from apple music, update or download apps, use certain apps because they haven't updated to new versions, click links in emails, and backup phone to iCloud. I've been dealing with this since, Monday October 26, 2015.

I think I can also verify that this isn't a hardware issue. Im currently experiencing all of the problems described in this thread. My new 6s was only about a month old, and I brought it to an Apple Store. They gave me a new 6s, and everything was working fine. But as as soon as I upgraded the phone to iOS 9.1, all the problems came back.

I can also attest that this isn't a hardware issue but an apple id issue. I posted yesterday that my iphone is good but it's back to the same prob after an hour. Spent whole day trying to figure out what's causing this. It is my apple id indeed. Tried my brother's apple id and everything works fine. Tried again my apple id then again it was a catastrophe. For now, I can't think of a solution but to wait until apple acknowledges this issue. I also tried the iOS 9.2 beta 1 but problem exists in that version too. Let's just hope that those in the Genius Bar who assisted smnlo can escalate this to the team responsible in developing iOS. Good luck to all us. I pray that our woes end soon.

After you tried the 9.2 beta, did you go back to 9.1?
