iCloud verification code received without asking for it

Last Tuesday I received a text message on my iPhone containing my ICloud KeyChain verification code. The text message came out of blue and I am sure I did not request it. Today I am using my mac for the first time since last Tuesday and it is much slower and freezes a lot. How can I be sure my iCloud account has not been hacked? Many thanks
