Why is my charged magic mouse 2 not discoverable by my MacBook?

My new Magic Mouse 2 is discoverable by my MacBook until I disconnect it from the USB after a charge. Then it is not found.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2013), OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)
