Q: Airplay Issue

Has anyone experienced trouble with Airplay after upgrading to OS X El Captain and IOS 9.1?  Since the upgrade Airplay recognizes my Apple devices, but not my Airplay enabled Yamaha RX-V675 home theater receiver.  Everything worked fine prior to the upgrade, so I know it's not a problem with my gear.  Other than the lack of Airplay connectivity the Yamaha receiver is working perfectly.  Here's my hardware:

  • Macbook Pro running El Captain 10.11
  • Two iPhone 6 running IOS 9.1
  • Two iPad's running IOS 9.1
  • Apple TV2 (upgraded to the latest software)
  • Home network consists of one Airport Extreme, and three Airport Express's setup to extend my wireless network (all upgraded to the latest release)

Any help would be much appreciated.

I had the same problem after updating to El Capitan even after updating the Apple TV unit (3rd generation)

Then I restarted the Apple TV and after that Air Play was Ok

I have a Mac Book Pro (el Capitan 10.11.1 and an Iphone 6 (Ios 9.1).

My wife has a Mac Air (Yosemite 10.10.5), an Iphone 6 (iOS 9.1) and an Ipad 2 (iOS 9.1)

My network consists of one Time Machine and one Airport Express)

Apple TV is accerssible from all units mentioned above

I would make sure you have every thing plugged in and then restart your apple TV and iPad or computer ( which ever one you are streaming with.)

If that doesn't work I would use a wire (not wireless) or go to the apple store maybe there's a some problem on your which ever one you are streaming with.

    -Hope this helps

All - I figured out the problem.  Yamaha issued a firmware update in September to fix compatibility issues with the latest Apple operating system releases.  If you own the RX-V675 you need to upgrade to firmware revision 1.70.  If you have other hardware check Yamaha's website to ensure you're running the latest firmware.  I suspect other manufactures may have done something similar.
