Why do I get an error message saying quicktime is not installed on Safari 9.0.1?

I am trying to access a site and I get an error message that "This webpage has content that requires the “QuickTime” plug-in. To view this content you need this plug-in. For more information, visit the plug-in’s website."

When I look at what plug-ins are available there is no quicktime on the list. I'm confused. I thought quicktime was an Apple product, why isn't it part of Safari?

Thanks

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)
