1/8 audio cable(or other method) to audio input on MacPro

May a person with more experience help me to set up the correct way to use my phantom powered mic to run from the mixer into the MacPro in order to effect it using mainstage and then out to my stereo. I have the out to stereo covered but its how to get my mic sound into the MacPro. I currently use a macmini for this and run the headset sound from the mixer into the audio input port on the macmini and things are working fine. But I need to upgrade to more horse power and looking at buying the MacPro.

The audio-in is mono only and requires a line-level (amplified) signal.

The headphone port supports a simple mic input.

You can use one of these to input to headphone jack from a mic with a simple 3.5 mm plug

You can get USB adopter for both stereo out and mono in

Nice, I never knew that. On my mac mini there is the port "headphones" that send out and the "audio in"

  • Audio line in minijack (digital/analog)
  • Audio line out/3.5 mm headphone jack (digital/analog)

So I was under the notion that the only way to get audio in to a iMac or MacPro was by optical audio. Thank you for clearing that up for me.

So here is how I envision my set-up on the MacPro- run the audio from the mixer into the headphone port and then send out via USB to the stereo.

Thank you,

Todd
