Will the new Apple peripherals such as the 2015 Magic Trackpad and Magic Keyboard work under the Mavericks OS X? I did see that it listed as a system requirement that it should be 10.11 or later, but has anyone had any experience with it working under anything below that? I'm not interested in upgrading my operating system, but am in need of a keyboard replacement. Thanks in advance!

So I just received the new Magic Keyboard in the mail and connected it to my 27" iMac running Mavericks and it works, but there's an issue with the top row of function keys. None of them seems to work. Brightness, mission control, audio control, none of them function like they're supposed to. When I connect my old Wireless Keyboard to the iMac it works normally, but not the new one. Could there be an issue with the Keyboard?
The new keyboard, mouse, trackpad all require OS 10.11 (El Capitan).
So I would have to upgrade my OS for it to work then. :\
Based on the posts showing up here on the forum, yes you would need to upgrade to El Capitan to obtain full functionallity. Also note that the new trackpad would require a Mac with BlueTooth 4.
I am on my mavericks mac typing on a new magic keyboard. Does anyone know what about it requires 10.11?? Is it going to "work but be missing features" with less than 10.11??
Just answered my own question: So paired with my 2013 MBP 10.10.5, the A-Z keys work, the function keys do not. Paired with my 2013 iMac 10.11 machine and they all work. 😟
It is always a good idea prior to buying or getting any new product to check what the system requirements for it are so you are positive it will work with your set up.
Did you resolve this issue. I am also having exactly the same problem. I have upgraded to OS X El Capitan also with no sign of the problem being resolved. This is a new magic keyboard as my space bar function failed on my previous keyboard.
