I just updated my iPhone 6 software to iOS 9.1. The "App Store" does not appear anywhere and does not seem to be installed. When I search for it using the swipe-down search bar nothing comes up. I've tried plugging it in to my laptop to see if it would download but that didn't seem to do anything. Since all Apps are downloaded from the "App Store" App, I'm not sure how to download the "App store" itself.

You would have to restore the iPhone to factory settings in order to restore the App Store app.

Pre-installed apps cannot be deleted and they cannot be downloaded from the App Store.
Check Settings>General>Restrictions and see if it has been disabled.
Try this BEFORE restoring the phone as new.
