Bottom case without serial number?

Hey guys. I just bought myself a replacement bottom case for my macbook pro because the original one had gone through a lot.

I didnt realize though that the new one would not have the computer's serial number engraved on it.

Do you guys think thats a big deal? I really like the new case but should I tolerate the cosmetics of the old one because of the serial number?

It's not on warranty anymore but maybe I'm missing something important here, like resale value. Perhaps people would steer away from buying it due to the absence of an engraved SN, or even simply because it's not an original part?

What do you think?

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11), null

No. Not a big deal.

Most people do not even know the serial number is on the bottom cover plate.

In terminal you can easily see the serial number, copy and paste this complete line:

ioreg -l | awk -F\" ' /IOPlatformSerialNumber/ { print $4 } '

Note: If the logicboard has been repaired by replacement and your Apple Authorized Service Provider did not flash it with the serial number then you can not see a Mac’s serial number in the “About this Mac” dialog box,

Thanks!

Apple had nothing to do with this, I just ask them to order a replacement bottom case, so nothing messed with the original SN.

I was more concerned in terms of original and resale value because I thought it would be important for a potential buyer in the future.

But let's say one day the machine dies. How would the person know what part to replace when apple asks him/her the serial number? Maybe I should write it with marker in the inside?
