can I delete iphoto now that photos is installed

A:

You can but it is not recommended and will not save much space - Photos saves disk space by sharing images with your iPhoto or Aperture libraries - Apple Support - and if you need it back it can be difficult to impossible - best to leave it for a few months until you are positive you do not want or need it
