Oct 25, 2015 7:36 AM in response to Linda Siponenby Dah•veed,Because Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Nor does Apple merge Apple IDS. The Apple ID that you used to buy content is encoded into the licensed copy that you downloaded to your Mac. That is the only Apple ID that can currently redownload that content or update the content. The only thing that you can do is delete the content bought with the old Apple ID and buy it again with the new Apple ID.
Changing your Apple ID is usually a bad idea.

Oct 25, 2015 10:08 AM in response to Dah•veedby Greg Carrozza,I have the same issue. Years ago before Family Sharing, I created an Apple ID to use to purchase content from the iTunes Store and then the App Store and then the Mac App Store for all users in my family.
Apps that I downloaded to my Mac use this "dummy" Apple ID. With Family Sharing, I no longer need the dummy Apple ID nor do I want it.
When I log into the Mac App Store with my personal Apple ID, apps that require updating ask for the password for my "dummy" Apple ID.
I have found instructions on deleting apps using Launchpad. After deleting I intend to re-purchase the apps while logged into my personal Apple ID. However, even though the apps are now gone from my computer, the Mac App Store still thinks I need to update these apps and asks for my dummy Apple ID password.
I have tried deleting specific Cache files and plist files in Preferences, but this still persists.
I have also enabled the Debug menu on the Mac App Store and tried "Reset Application" as well as "Start Scan for updates". Neither changes anything.
I do not want to use the "dummy" Apple ID anymore.
And I am specifically talking about free apps that I should be able to re-install using my personal Apple ID.

Oct 25, 2015 2:50 PM in response to Linda Siponenby Linc Davis,App Store products can only be updated by signing in to the store with the same Apple ID that was originally used to download them. You can't update anything, including your own purchases, as long as there are pending updates linked to another ID.
If you can't sign in with the other ID, you have to delete all the apps that are linked to it. If you don't know which apps those are, see below.
1. Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
2. In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu of search criteria, initially showing Kind. From that menu, select
Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select
Raw Query
as the criterion, then click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of the menu of search criteria. That's where you enter the raw search query. Click in that box and paste the text you copied earlier by pressing command-V.
3. The search window will now show all the App Store products that are installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were downloaded from the App Store using other Apple ID's that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
4. At least one of the apps in the Spotlight search results is not among your purchases in the App Store. Delete each such item by following the instructions in the Apple Support article linked above.
5. Quit and relaunch the App Store.
If you find these instructions confusing, ask for an alternative method.

Oct 26, 2015 3:09 AM in response to Linc Davisby Linda Siponen,Hi there ,
Thank you for your reply. I´ve been trying to do as you told me, step by step, but when I reach "OTHERS" in nr: 2. theres no option for Raw Query, only Help Query and that will not give me a text box beside the SEARCH criteria...
The other thing is that before I actually changed my Apple ID, I was trying to only change my password, so I could get in to AppStore and just update my apps, but couldn´t do that and thats why I thought I will try to change my Apple ID and now it´s all a mess....and I can´t update anything :/
Thank you; Linda
