Q: Printing Issue with El Capitan ?

Hi,

 

I've just bought a new iMac and can't set up my Canon MX310 printer.  All the suggestions from Apple seem to find me going around in a loop.  When I try to add the printer I am told software for this printer is available from Apple.  I've downloaded the latest available one from Canon but when I try to Choose a Driver I don't know where to look to Select Software.  There is no obvious choice which appears in the menu of drivers and I don't know what name Canon has ascribed to it.

Can anyone help ?

Have you tried the Gutenprint drivers?

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201465 says that this software isn't available from Apple, so I am not sure Software Update is sending you into this loop. You may want to send feedback to Apple about that.
