AirPlay stops when iPhone 6s turns off iOS 9.1

I'm having the same issue. As are some other friends. Any word on if this is an update issue?

I am having exactly the same issue after updating to iOS 9.1. It happens on my iPhone 6 S, when airplaying to Apple TV (3rd Gen). I hope Apple release fix soon!

same Problem here (iPhone 6s with 9.1). Plex via AirPlay.

also happens with spotify via Bluetooth

Exactly the same problem here. I have noticed however that the phone will stream music via airplay when sleeping to other airplay enabled devices including Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin and Pioneer AV receiver.

This suggests the problem is with Apple TV. I have restored mine (3rd gen) to factory settings and updated the software but no improvement. Call me a cynic but it is really unfortunate timing that a product which worked seamlessly has developed a fault just before the launch of the new Apple TV!

The current device is now useless.

Now what can we do to make sure they are working on this? Can we just assume they are reading all these posts?

One of the only reason we bought Apple tv is for its airplay fonction. If its not there anymore we'll all switch to competition.

Dazzler, I have found a way for it to work with appleTV (at least with playing music):

- Once you are on your wifi, swipe up opening your Quick Menu or tap the AirPlay feature in Music

- Press play, your music should start streaming through the AirPlay connected device

- Press the Wake/Sleep button, your screen will close. Now, 2-3 seconds later the music will stop.

- Press Wake/Sleep button again, the Music control screen will pop up automatically. Hit play, and the music should start playing again.

- Press Wake/Sleep for the last time and you should stay connected to AirPlay that way.

Just remember that every time you go back into your iPhone and then close it again, you will be stopping the music and you'll have to go through the last 2 steps again.

Lets hope this isn't a practice we will have to do long and Apple will fix this bug soon.

Also, this can't be a problem with appleTV. It only started after the most recent iPhone 9.1 update. AppleTV latest update had very few bugs and fixes associated with it. This is definitely an iPhone/iOS bug.

All the tricks that can be found are do not bring back video, only audio. Me I'm using my watch to restart after a shot down and only audio is coming back

Same issue with 6S and 9.1. Able to use the workaround but this bug is highly annoying since I am regularly streaming to my 3rd gen ATV from my phone and Apple doesnt find it necessary to incorporate Apple Music into ATV.

I was having the same issue but fixed it by just plugging my phone into power. From that point on I didn't have any problems. Obviously this is just a bandaid and Apple will need to fix this issue.

SOLUTION SOLUTION!!!!!

You are probably using a live photo on your lock screen.

Just put back a normal static one and that will do.

The problem doesn't come from airplay but from the conflict of having a movie photo when the phone goes to sleep and falls on the lock screen.
