Q: I have installed OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 from OS X 10.6 in which I had coloured files and folders and coloured fonts for files/folders. How can I get that in Yosemite instead of the silly little tags?

Colored files and folders in Finder is no longer available. What silly little tags are you referring to, we can't see what you do, please  be more descriptive. If you are referring to Tags in Finder then it might serve you to learn what they are used for, they are extremely handy.  You can learn more by clicking OS X: Tags help you organize your files - Apple Support

The little coloured circles that can be added to a file or folder is the only colour identification that I can find. However they do not make the file or folder stand out like the previous version provided for easy access.

As I mentioned in my first post, colors are no longer used in Finder's sidebars to identify Favorites, Devices & Shared items. Re-read my initial post and you will find a link to learn how to use the Tags if you haven't figured out how to yet.

Unless it is a system installed folder (such as the Applications folder), you can substitute other folder icons/colors very easily. Just google Mac folder icons and you'll be presented with many choices. However, that method does not work on system installed folders - it will work momentarily, but then immediately go back to the default. You can change folder icons in your User folder or any folder you've created.

Here is one set that I've used:
