I see that you are encountering an issue with either USB playback in your BMW. I have an article for you that lists out some troubleshooting steps regarding this issue:
If you're using USB Playback
- Restart your iOS device and your car.
- Connect your iOS device to a different stereo USB port (if you have one).
- Try a different USB cable.
- Update your iOS device.
- Install any firmware updates for your car stereo.
- Try playing audio from a different app. If you can't play audio from a specific third-party app, contact the app developer for help. If you can't play audio from an Apple app, Contact Apple Support.

Nov 18, 2015 2:37 PM in response to braden85by destinate24,Hello,
I tried the above mentioned steps. It does not work on my new car as well. However, at the dealership, the rep plugged in his iPhone 6 plus to the same lightening cable i use in my car. and his phone instantly got detected and played music from Spotify/pandora. etc.
I have IOS 9.1 iPhone 6
