I cannot open word document file after downloaded on my mac air

MacBook Air

recently upgraded to OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.5. 1.4GHz Intel Core i5 (Early 2014)

Using Microsoft Word Mac 2011. Version 14.3.1 Latest Installed Update 14.3.0.

I can open the word application and word documents that I created on my MacBook Air.But I cannot open the word document that I downloaded from email. When I tried to open the downloaded word document, it will appears to be running the word application (like the following screenshot) but then it just closes the application itself.
