Oct 26, 2015 12:48 AM in response to ktscatesby léonie,Apple does no longer sell iPhoto, and the versions sold on iLife '11 installer disks at Amazon or eBay are not compatible with Yosemite MacOS X 10.10.3 or later and cannot be updated to iPhoto 9.6.1, the only compatible iPhoto version.
You can only install iPhoto on a new Mac, if you already own iPhoto and iPhoto appears in your Purchases history at the App Store.
See Barney's User Tip: Get iPhoto 9.6.1 if you didn't update before OS... | Apple Support Communities
On a new Mac you are supposed to use the new Photos.app, that is now provided by Apple instead of iPhoto. You can open iPhoto Libraries or Aperture libraries in Photos.
