Hi, I am trying to upgrade my Macbook pro 8.1 early 2011 witrh Mac OS X 10.6.8 (10K549) to Yosemite or El Capitan, but when I am going to the download button I get a message saying that OS X 10.10 or 10.11 cannot be installed on this computer.

I would appreciate any support or suggestions on how to move to a newst OS version.

Verify you have enough hard drive space available for an upgrade.
How much free space do you have on your HD? Your Mac should be capable of a Yosemite or El Capitan upgrade (The model number was a handy piece of information).

Did you check Leroy's article?
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher

Sorry, I missed it. Try booting into the Safe Mode and/or another admin account and see if it will download. Is that all the error message says?
