When typing on a PDF, I used to be able to click anywhere on the pdf and begin typing my notes. Now i have to create a text box and move it with the track pad where I need it. How do I go back to just clicking and then typing immediately?

Hi Everyone!

I type my notes on Preview and majority are PDFs of powerpoint slides. I used to be able to click anywhere on the slide and begin typing immediately.

Now i have to make a text box (which is ALWAYS in the middle of the page) and drag it, then adjust the size and what not. that takes a tremendous amount of time instead of normally, typing where ever I would like. Anyway to change this?

Although you exclude the version of OS X that you are using, the current Preview in El Capitan does not provide direct text input, and as you observed, wants a Text box from the markup toolbar. On the otherhand, if you were using Adobe Reader 11.0.13, you could click on the Comments toolbar item, and choose the 'T' item in its toolbox. This will allow you to directly enter (comment) text on your PDF.
