My Magic Mouse 2 works for a while, but suddenly stops scrolling horizontally.
If I wave the device around for two or three minutes, the horizontal scrolling returns.
Am I doing something dumb, or is the new mouse malfunctioning?

I think you are going to have to wait a while, David. There have been rather more trouble with the new mouse and El Capitan than we normally find. I suggest you send a copy of your post here to Product Feedback. You won't get a reply but they say all feedback is read. One reason why I am not upgrading.

Make sure you mention Magic mouse 2 and that you are on El Capitan 10.11.1. It appears to have been well aired there was a fault of a kind with 10.11.0. Thank you for the star.
