Nov 10, 2015 4:40 PM in response to stefaniamwby waltonjones,There is a setting under the "Develop" menu in Safari called "Disable Images." You may have accidentally turned that on at some point.

Nov 12, 2015 9:02 AM in response to waltonjonesby JoeMac22,Checked - not the issue. Safari on iOS is fine, but not on Yosemite. A fairly recent problem - last 2 or 3 months.

Feb 4, 2016 11:47 AM in response to stefaniamwby twin41,Did you ever find a solution for this? It's definitely a Safari bug that showed up in 9.0.1 (9.0.3 also has the bug) as 9.0 did not have the problem. It's randomly on some images. If you inspect the element, the image then shows up.

Feb 4, 2016 1:04 PM in response to twin41by twin41,I ended up finding a (hacky) fix for this Safari (9.0.1+) bug. The issue was with the container element around the image and not the image iteself. I had an anchor tag around the image so I ended up displaying the anchor as a block and it is no longer disappearing. This is probably not going to work for everyone but hopefully it will steer someone in the right direction.

Sep 4, 2016 7:26 AM in response to stefaniamwby janadussel,Hi, it might be a bit late now but I had this problem too and I found a solution so this might help other people trying to find a fix.
My images that weren't displaying had the foreign letter ö in their file name. Once I removed the letter from the file name the images were showing up.
I think this problem might be related to having symbols or foreign letters in the filename and Safari is not able to read it.
Hope this helps.

Sep 4, 2016 8:03 AM in response to stefaniamwby VikingOSX,It seems to me that there are newer, and more secure Safari updates available than 9.0.1 — when all updates have been applied to OS X 10.10.5. Check your Updates in the OS X App Store, and read the details for the Security updates.
The Security Update 2016-004 for Yosemite has Safari 9.1.3 in it.
