Q: iOS 9.2 killed BT

I upgraded both my iPhone 6  and my iPad 3  to iOS version 9.2 and now they cannot connect to each other via Bluetooth at all.  This is very disconcerting to me as this was working just fine in iOS version 9.1, 9.0, 8.3, 8.2, 8.1, and 8.0.

I have since deleted all Bluetooth original profiles, rebooted each system, and turned the Bluetooth on and off several times.  Both devices turn Bluetooth on successfully and are continually in the  Discovery mode  without being able to see one another.

There is no iOS 9.2, so I'm not sure exactly what you are referring to. What devices are you trying to connect, the iPhone and the iPad? They will only connect for Personal Hotspot. For anything else that involves Bluetooth for the two devices only requires they have Bluetooth turned on, not paired.

Thanks ChrisJ!  Since when did they do away with the requirement for pairing?  It seems to be a security issue now!

Which requirement for pairing. You never mentioned what you were trying to do. You didn't pair if you were using Personal Hotspot, you just had to enter the passcode.

    Hi ChrisJ

Sorry about that.  I am just trying to pair my iPad 3 to my iPhone 6.  I used to do this all the time which allowed me to answer phone calls I received on the iPhone using my iPad.  In order to do this originally, I had to pair them together using pairing codes. This is the security I am speaking about.  If I no longer need to pair them together using a specific code, and all I have to do is turn on Bluetooth, wouldn't this create a security situation while located near other iOS devices with their Bluetooth enabled?

P.S. I NEVER had to use Personal Hotspot to do this.

Pairing Apple device has never been supported unless for tethering.
