Ipod not recognised on iTunes/driver error

I have an iPod Nano 7th generation, recently it is has been coming up on iTunes that my iPod isn't recognised. It says to uninstall and reinstall iTunes which i have done several times but it's still the same. After the box comes up on Itunes to say it isn't recognised and i close it down my ipod then disconnects and stops charging. I went into my devices it says that there is a driver error on my iPod.

I went into the device manager and on the USB Mass Storage Device it has an error message, in the device status it says that Windows is uninstalling the device. It then says that further installation is needed. I have tried searching for new updates, and even uninstalled the device and reinstalled it but nothing has changed.

i have tried looking online for solutions but there's so many different websites i wasn't sure where to look. I'm not sure whether there is a problem with my iPod or my laptop, as i plugged in my old ipod which i no longer use due to water being spilt on it, and itunes recognised it straight away. I do have Windows 10 on my laptop and i hadn't had any problems until a few weeks ago when it suddenly stopped working.

--PC running Windows 10-- I had difficulty with itunes 12.3.1.23 recognizing my previously recognized ipod nano. I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes as suggested in the error message that was generated when plugging the the device. That failed, however when I uninstalled Apple Application Support (64-bit), (32-bit) and then reinstalled itunes 12 that enabled my nano to be recognized and be synced. Apple Mobile Device Support also showed up in the programs window of my Windows 10 PC. Missing from the device manager was an entry for portable devices. This was shown in previous versions but is now gone. It is possible I removed that line in my previous efforts to get itunes to work. Nonetheless all is working well.
