I want to disable the Lock Screen altogether.

Is it possible just to turn off the Lock Screen? I'd like to turn my phone off and on by using the off-and-on button. Don't see the point of having to wait for the screen to recognize my finger is there swiping to the right.

Hint: I really really do know the difference between Lock Screen and Passcode. Please don't tell me how to turn off the Passcode.

iPhone, iOS 9.1

Apple is balancing ease of use with security here. Before touch ID many people didn't use pass codes and therefore had no security on their iPhones. Touch ID goes a LONG way toward ease of use while providing a high level of security. Considering the amount of personal information the average user has on their iPhone its not a great idea to disable Touch ID and passcode altogether.

To improve the utility of the lock screen iOS has evolved to include notifications, the today summary, quick camera access, and control centre without having to unlock the iPhone. All of these features allow you to quickly access information and repetitive tasks without needing to unlock.

I know it might seem like a nice idea to power on the display right to the home screen its just not a good idea to defeat the inherent security the lock screen provides.

Even if you disable the passcode or Touch ID, you cannot disable the lock screen. If you tap the sleep/wake button then it will take you to the lock screen and then swipe. There is no way to bypass the lock screen to wait for the swipe unless your device has Touch ID (iPhone 5s or higher) and you can use a finger to unlock the device and it goes straight to the home screen.
