Can't correctly position cursor in mail on el capitan

This is a really strange one. When composing messages in Mail, if i try to re position the cursor to edit text already entered it will not position and instead stays at the end of the line. I can't select text either unless I select all.

I can manually use the arrow keys to go back, although the cursor itself does not move, so I need to count the characters as I press the arrow in order to make changes. It's kind of counter productive.

I've never seen an issue like this before.

Ok, figured it out! I had an old version of Font Explorer X on my system and it must have been messing with the display of fonts, so I uninstalled it and rebuilt the system font cache, then restarted. All good now.

How to uninstall Font Explorer X: https://www.fontexplorerx.com/macfaq/ (buried a bit further down the page)

How to flush font cache: http://osxdaily.com/2015/01/08/clear-font-caches-databases-mac-os-x/

If you don't have Font Explorer X, just try and flush the font cache and see if that helps.
